Just wanted to make a quick post showing off one of my favorite knives the Ti/Damascus Endura 4 from Spyderco. I purchased
this from BladeHQ for just under $180 before shipping. There are dozens of variations of the Endura 4, but this one by far is
probably my favorite. This particular version has titanium handles instead of the colorful fiberglass handles the normal
Endura's come with, and a VG-10 core damascus steel drop point style blade. The Endura 4 is a lockback style knife which is
more of a traditional style of locking mechanism for knives, and each variation shares this in common.
The overall length of this knife is right at 8.75 inches, with a 3.75 inch blade, and a 5 inch handle. The blade is 0.13
inches thick, which is fairly average for pocket knives. It weighs in at 3.6 ounces, which I feel is a tad hefty for the knife
design but is still very manageable. It originally came with a stainless steel pocket clip which I swapped out for a powder
coated green titanium deep carry clip from Pops Custom Clips on Etsy which is much higher quality. The pocket clip can be worn
tip up or down, and can be swapped onto either side for left or right handed carry which is pretty nice!
I had this anodized with a blue and green splatter pattern to give it some color which I think is a nice contrast to the
Damascus blade it comes with. Although the matte finish the titanium comes with from the factory isn't too bad either! The
only thing I would change about this knife if I could is some ball bearings on the pivot instead of washers for the blade
deployment. It can be fairly stiff at times where it's not possible to flick the blade open quickly which I'm used to with
other Spyderco knives. But, it's easy enough to manually open the knife none the less. I think if the brass washers were
polished really well it might smoothen it up a bit, but I've yet to try it.
Overall I think this is a pretty nice pocket knife for the price, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking into Damascus
knives. There's another version available as well that also sport the VG-10 Damascus steel, with a bone handle mixed in with
the Ti for a slightly more traditional look I would say. The basic Endura is also a great knife, though I've never been a huge
fan of fiberglass scales on knives. If you've got any questions or comments leave them below!
