Singing Fish by Joan Miro
Painting and Frame
The painting above is my favourite by Joan Miro. I have a print of it hanging in my hallway.
I like it so much because the fish looks like a bird to me.
Joan Miro lived from 1893 to 1983. He was a Spanish artist and sculptor. Over his long career, he tried his hand at Surrealism, Fauvism, Cubism and Abstract art. He became known as a surrealist painter at first.
Miro was always experimenting with his art. He compared painting to poetry on canvas.
Throughout his career Miro often changed direction. In the 1950s he specialized in Ceramics and printmaking. He had a very varied life as an artist.
Now I will show you some of my favourite artworks by Joan Miro.
Horse, Pipe and Red Flower, 1920 by Joan Miro
Philadelphia Museum of Art
I like this work because I think it's a wonderfully imaginative desk for an artist.
The Sun, 1949 by Joan Miro
MoMa
This painting is one of my favourites for its simplicity.
Personnage, 1975 by Joan Miro
