Few days ago, my friend who studies art practice asked me a question: is there a context you see your work in?
He meant by including galleries, museums, community centres, public space, virtual space, publications or any other delivery methods I might envision that is appropriate for my work.
I have always imagined my work to be seen in galleries/museums or some kind of community centre. I've had few opportunities to show my work in the art show gallery and exhibition that was taken at the community centre. I have always hoped for my work to be seen in nice and secured places. I think it is because I have to be extra careful about the surface of my work and especially, the paints on the canvas which can be easily distorted when touched. Since now I am exploring the ways to romanticize the nature and make the painting look more like painting, the context of my work should not be limited. I have different thought about the placement of my work. Rather than locating my work in secured places, I would love to see my work in public space (outside of room) and possibility in a virtual space. Even situating my work in a forest would help my content to physically emphasize the idea of beautifying the nature. It would be interesting to view one nature that is growing up with time in outside space and another nature that is created and expressed by human hand.
Where do you want your work to be seen?
