“Koi Fish Resin Painting tutorial # 04”
Good day everyone, would like to share my process for making this lovely fish bowl, its wasy to make although time consuming, but the reward is always great.
Materials needed:
- small detail brush
- acrylic paints
- orange
- white
- black
- yellow
- green
- resin compound (i use envirotex lite)
- lighter (torch)
- any recylcled bowls
- pebbles
Here is my step by step procedure
Step 1:
- wash the bowl thoroughly, making sure theres no residue or dust
- then add some clean pebbles in the bowl and pour a mixture of your first layer of resin, and allow it to dry overnight or 16 to 24 hrs
- using acrylics painting your first layer, just the basic shape of the fish, focus more on making the fins, with streaking lines.
- when satisfied with the shape, pour a mixture if resin making sure its evenly distributed in the bowl, then use a torch lighter to get rid of those tiny bubbles
Step 2:
- After the resin dries up, paint and make details on the body part, use a dabbing technique for the scales, then also paint the eye
- i also added those gree grass and would paint another layer on it, like giving nd impression of vegetation in the water
- then add the resin mixture and distribute evenly, then torch the litttle bubbles till clear
Step 3:
- once the resin completely dries, paint your last layer, and making more details on the eye and the top fins
- add some shimmer to the scales as well, make you paint thin using water so that some of the other layers will show up
- then sign it when your satistfied, then pour the last layer of resin and torch the remaining bubbles, allow to dry overnight, then its ready for display or giveaway
