In Turkey, famous for a painting art on water called Ebru. The word Ebru means cloud or cloudy. However, the painting came from Tang Dynasty, China. After spreading to Iran and Turkey by way of silk, in the 16th century merchants from Europe began to spread it.
The art of Ebru is used as an ornament of book covers, marble, to paintings, making it famous from Istanbul to Italy, Germany, France and, England. In Europe this painting on water is known as 'Turkish Paper'.
The essence of the Ebru Technique is how we understand the flow of water as a determinant of paint direction. After the painting is formed the next step is to put the paper onto the surface of the water and lift slowly after a silent moment.
If you have tried, make Ebru painting is not too difficult. It only takes a water canvas, oil paint, long wire, and of course willpower. It starts by spreading the droplets of various colored oil paint on the water canvas, then the paint droplets are made like following the water ripple with the wire cut.
The beauty of Ebru is fascinating and famous to the area of origin Renaissance, in fact reminds us of the greatness of the artists of Islam that is not inferior to the European artists.
