Urs Graf ( 1485 - 1528 ) was one of the most important artists of the early swiss renaissance. He was active in Basel and Zurich as goldsmith, painter and printmaker, woodblock book illustrator, stain glass designer and engraver. In 1513 produced Urs Graf the world's first etching print and pioneered the white - line woodblock technique.
