Here is my first post on drawing and my 2nd post on steemit after my introductory post. Like I said, I would be posting my drawings on this platform to help artists like myself learn to be better and also to share knowledge of art amongst fellow artists.
For today's post on Firefly Faces, I'm starting on a honorable ground by presenting to my new family my drawing of Mahatma Gandhi. He is unarguably one or if not the most respected and adored icon in India and the world in general. He is known for his fight for independence, civil rights for women and equal treatment of everyone regardless of their religion. Here are some pictures taken in the course of this drawing.




10 FACTS ABOUT GANDHI
- Gandhi was born on October 2, 1894 and was named Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi but received his honorific name "Mahatma" which means "Great Soul" in 1914.
2.Through a prearranged marriage, Gandhi married at the age of 13 to his wife who was a year older. They were married for 62 years.
- Gandhi and his wife had their first son when he was 16, but the child died a few days later. He had four other sons after before he took an oath of celibacy.
- Gandhi recruited Indians to fight for Britain in World war 1 despite being famous for non-violence.
- Gandhi lived in South africa for 21 years where he was also imprisoned so many times.
- Gandhi denied Gandhism because the didn't want to be associated with a cult-like group.
7.The British Government wouldn't allow photos of Gandhi to be taken during fasting to avoid a further push for independence.
- Government nutritionists where called in to exolain how Gandhi could go for 21 days without food.
9.On January 30 1948, Gandhi was assassinated by a fellow Hindu who shot him thrice at point-blank range.
- Gandhi's last words after being shot was "Oh God"

Gandhi lived an honorable life and so is well respected all over the world for his selfless acts. If everyone emulated his righteous ways, the world would be a better place.
