Leonardo da Vinci is unarguably one of the most multi-talented and extremely gifted person who ever lived. His drawings and paintings have been of great interest and significance during his time and the present day. Many of us knew him as just an artist who painted the Mona Lisa, but there are a few more things you probably didn't know about this genius. Here are some few interesting facts for you about Leonardo da Vinci.
• Leonardo was an Italian artist was born April 15, 1452 and died May 2, 1519. "Da Vinci" which means "from Vinci" was given to him as a surname as he was born in a Tuscan town. He lived during the Renaissance , a movement which led to important development and discovies in sciences and arts.
• Leonardo da Vinci is well known for his legendary paintings the Mona Lisa, Last Supper, the Vitruvian man amongst others. Asides being an exceptional artist, he was also a scientist, an inventor, a mathematician, a writer, a music, just name it.

• At the age of fourteen, he worked for an artist called Verrocchio with whom he learnt and mastered so many technical skills including drawing, leather work, painting and sculpting.
• He was quite an animal lover and a vegetarian throughout his lifetime. Sometimes he'd buy some caged birds just to set them free. That's just awesome. He wasn't in support of War, but was a military engineer who helped in designing deadly and advanced weapons.
• Amongst his top designs, he made the drawing plans for the first armoured car in 1485, invented the bicycle 300 years before it appeared on the road and also made drawing plans for aircrafts which resembles the present day hangers. Other drawings and designs he made included those of a motorcar, helicopter, paddle boat and parachute. Some of his designs have been tested and successful while some were not so successful.
