Someone asked me to do a quick 30m portrait of their dog.
Here is my process + My colour fix!
Using PureRef I cropped and put side by side the two pictures I had.
Did a quick pencil sketch using my favourite drawing tool.
Then I added a basic wash of watercolour. At this point, I was using regular paper, and realized I screwed up. Haha.
Watercolour is very unforgiving, so I saved this stage, to finish digitally, but I tried to finish and do another wash anyway...
If my watercolour experience has taught me anything, its that the paper is more important than the paint and paintbrush combined.
Which is why you always save a process picture! So if you butcher it you still have something to work on.
