This Saturday (yesterday) my daughters and I partook in some culture. We watched the Children's Ballet of the Ozarks perform The Nutcracker. It was our fourth time seeing it in as many years. It has seemed to become a tradition to take the girls to this ballet. It is one of my own ballerina's (Bear) favorite ballets.
The story starts at a party where Clara and her brother Fritz are celebrating Christmas with their family and friends. they are dancing and having fun. They are excited when their godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer arrives with two life sized dancing dolls...
Herr Drosselmeyer gives gifts of dolls and horns to the children. Clara gets a Nutcracker. She is delighted. her brother, Fritz, grabs the doll and promptly breaks it. Clara is heartbroken and begins to cry. Her godfather fixes the doll and she is appeased. The guests all leave the party to go to bed, but Clara sneaks back down to check on her doll. Clara falls asleep on the couch with her Nutcracker.
End of Scene One. Stay tuned for Act I, Scene Two: The Fight Scene!
