This is a painting I did of a ghost crab, they're not native to my hometown of seattle, but I always thought they were just the sweetest looking little scuttlers. I went about this painting freehand (no prior sketching or outlines). I don't generally approach paintings without a plan, but it was a hot day and I was feeling lethargic and just wanted throw a little paint down. I'm pretty proud of the result considering the approach, without an outline there was a certain amount of uncertainty in every brush stroke but at the same time it left room for more freedom to change the composition of the piece.
