Facial Contrast

In this charcoal piece, I wanted to do a up close charcoal piece on the human face. I wanted to depict the contrasting of shadow and highlights with black charcoal and white charcoal, which you can evidently see splits down the middle more or less of this man's face.
I first outlined and drew the face using pencil and then filled in the light to medium shadows first with black charcoal. Then I would go in and fill in the light to medium highlights with the white charcoal.
After doing the light and medium tones, I'd go back in with both black and white charcoal to really emphasize the dark shadows and light highlights.
