Hello steemanians, hope you enjoyed the last lesson.
Today we will be moving to flats colours i.e. painting without adding shadows or light effects. Here is an example below showing the product of what we will be doing today
Since we learnt about how to go about drawing a character’s head easily using just using lines to and shapes to create them (as shown in previous post). So this time, relax as I go into the phase of flattening a character’s head with the use of Adobe Photoshop and Huion tablet
1 SKETCHING OF YOUR CHARACTER:
After sketching your character on your paper or on the system, then, you ink them (i.e. after multiple sketches because as we all know ourselves we can’t get a particular artwork once, no one is perfect). You ink them without you using colours at first. Use a dark, black, or any colour of your taste depending so you will have an idea of where you will start painting and which colour to use. This lines are to show you a clear view of how your character looks like. A very good inking/line art is a very good illustration to begin with. I will be using round hard brush size 2 on Adobe Photoshop cs6 and using my Huion tablet to draw. Here is a picture of the result shown below.
2 COLOUR/FLAT THE CHARACTER:
This stage of this lesson is the final and last stage which includes you colouring your character. After inking the character neatly, then, you colour/flat colours depending on the race or the kind of character you are drawing (i.e. for the skin) if he/she is black, white, Asian etc. Flattening the character does not mean using deep/dark colours, it means using colours which are close to white and while doing this you colour the hair to which if she is blonde you paint her hair light yellow, if she is black you paint her hair slightly close to black but not black, you do so to an Asian character. So as for the eyes you do the same. In all when painting or flattening don’t use dark colors you use light colours. Here am painting a female Jamaican character and giving details to her face.
So we have come to the end of this lesson thanks for reading.
Stay posted next time for another educative and fun lesson
