Sometimes when I don't know what I want to paint, I take a small canvas panel, either new or one that needs a do-over and I just play with different painting tools or try different types of strokes, not expecting the end product to be a real "piece".
This is one of those pieces. I did it several months ago and after it dried, it went into the spare room to wait for it's paint over on some other day when I might be inspired to do so.
As I sat here at my computer a couple of days ago, my eyes landed on it from across the room and it was then that I saw the rowing man, rowing a yellow boat and his reflection in the water. (You see him... right?) He has a hat on it looks like..... ha
Of course I didn't intend for him to be there and never noticed him because below is how the canvas was positioned when I doodled on it.
You might be able to tell where he showed up better from a distance. Funny .... right ?
Last night I wanted to paint, but again, nothing in my head, so I just played around, pushing lumps of paint here and there. This is not a real piece either. Afterwards, close up I thought there might be a a cupcake flying through the air a little right of center, so I'm thinking it's a birthday party going on in there. ha ha
5 X 7 & canvas board
After that I played on a small 4 X 4 canvas board. Not a master piece either, but I got to see how some colors looked together.
This brings me to one more thing I have noticed online as I have looked through art. A lot of painters are making a lot of these very small paintings, some a LOT smaller like 2 1/2 by 3 and asking different prices for them from $10 to $30. I suppose if you can make some money doing that, why not, but I suppose I'm not sure what people do with art that small. Put it in a small picture easel on a table?
Ok... my Dominoes pizza is here now, so I have to go feast on it for a while.
