Are you recovering from all of yesterday's fun today? I don't feel I need recovery myself, but I feel like I am more like basking in the afterglow. So much build up, so much preparation, peaking to one day of nonstop fun. I'm not sad yet, but I would like for it to not be over already. I paced myself before and thoroughly enjoyed the process of getting everything ready. I love the anticipation.
Late last night I was at my art desk. I wasn't ready to jump right into a bigger project, so I made this little collage. I named it "After The Presents Were Opened" I didn't know that is what I was making, but in the end, that's what it looked like to me. The sparkly bits are from a piece of wrapping paper whose design had different colors of Christmas light shapes and they were all glittery. I love that paper.
After I mentioned the glittery paper above, I decided I needed to show you a piece of the glittery paper, so I went to take a photo.
The light was less on one side of the paper, so I thought I would try to brighten it a bit to see if that would make it better, but found it didn't. Since I was there though, I played with the slide and made this black and white version, which I thought was kind of neat.
So of course I was compelled to take the slide all the way back in the opposite direction to see what it would do and found that it nearly made the sparkly lights look like they were on! Such fun.... and with one scrap of Christmas paper. LOL
That was a fun and unplanned addition to my post.
Like I said I was going too, I spent the day at my Mom's. I got there before 10:30 am and put a Breakfast Casserole in to bake. Mom knew about what time I was getting there and had already baked her Hashbrown casserole. While it was baking I unloaded all the other treats and goodies I had baked, bought and brought. The table was so full and festive looking, just like it should be.
My younger brother and his wife came in a little after 11, within a few minutes, His daughter, (my niece) her husband and two little children showed up as well. They live in a different state, but were staying with my brother during Christmas. It was fun, because I don't get to see them much. Pretty soon we were eating warm breakfast casserole and sausage balls and.....some of everything else.
We took our time and afterwards, very informally, we got around to giving Mom some presents and then my brother gave me one too. He had bought a small variety of candies that were popular when we were growing up (and a giftcard to Walmart...yay!).
After my brother left, Mom and I tidied the kitchen a little, swept the floor a little and sat down in the comfy chairs. About 20 minutes later, another nephew and his wife and 6 children showed up and once again, the house was full and buzzing. They descended on the food table and hoovered up half (or more) of what was there. LOLOLOLOL ... it was funny, but for real, it needed to happen because there was SO much food and Mom and I didn't need to end up with all of that left over.
Fun! Fun!
I stayed till it was nearly dark, pack up and came home. Satisfied and feeling like a nap would be nice.
Last night very late, well, technically this morning, I decided to try one of these little NikLNips that my brother had given me with the old time candies (I swear I don't remember them being called that).... but every thing else looked the same as it used too. I took out a green one (which is missing in the photo).....and bit off the top. I played with the wax between my front teeth a bit, feeling that same old consistency of the wax. It had no flavor, but just feeling it reminded me of the red fake lips that were also wax treats back in the day. Those though had been sweet somehow. Anyway, after I finished that part of the experience, I slowly sipped the green fluid out of the little bottle. I made it last for a few minutes. The flavor was just like it used to be. Somehow, your brain just never seems to forget those things.
I couldn't help but "adult think" about how very little product you were really getting as far as the drink part of it went. Really....so little!
You were supposed to chew the bottle afterwards, kind of like chewing gum, only different. I didn't do that last night since I had toyed with the top I bit off for a while before drinking the drink.
It was fun to experience it once again, a throw back to the good-old- childhood-days. There are 7 more and I "think" I will spread them out and make them last a while, having one more at some surprise times in the future.
This was some of the other things in the box. I will enjoy them too along the wway.
I don't know what else I will do today. There is plenty to do like always, a little straightening up in the kitchen, not too bad. I've already emptied the dishwasher so it will be ready for a few more things. I purchased a little bit of art for Santa to give me and I did it late enough I knew it would not be here before Christmas, but that was ok, I knew they were coming. Surprisingly, both pieces were delivered just a little while ago and when I am done here, I will go open them. One I expected soon, but the other I had been given a USPS tracking number that even this morning only showed that a label had been created, so I thought it had not gotten to the post office yet. Imagine my surprise to find it on my porch! That makes today exciting too. I'll show them to you later. 😊
I hope you all are having a good day and that your hearts are happy.
Love you !
