Like most Sundays, I will be heading out to Mom's at lunch time. Last night I cooked a mixed pot of butter beans and butter peas with some leftover pork bits I had frozen and this morning, I put together a chicken casserole of a sorts and it has been in the oven for an hour now, with one hour to go. It creates it's on gravy, so Mom will be cooking some rice to go with it. Yum ! Yum ! It's going to be a good lunch. Oh... I believe there is going to be a little fresh coconut cake for dessert and you won't hear ME complaining at all about THAT.
Last night I got over to my art desk with the intent of adding some things to the three little practice pieces I have been playing with. Staring at them in front of me, I was not inspired on the next thing to do with them, so to heck with that! I decided to try more painty papers (don't roll your eyes like that ! )...using a BALLOON to paint with. Sounds a little better now, right ? 😄
I had seen it on a video, but I had seen something like it a few times in the past just regarding fun, regular painting techniques. With the recent clean-up and organizing of my art area that I have been working on, I had come across a package of balloons, so I thought "Why not??"
I blew up a couple of sizes and spent several hours playing with them. It was really fun... and messy ! I took a lot of photos as you can imagine and as I thought about putting together a post, it seemed no way to trim them down to even a little more than acceptable numbers. There was so much to show, you know various progress photos.... over and over... yadda yadda.....
I almost decided to wait on it as there were so many photos.... so many ! As I sifted through though, I found that the photos I thought were the most fun, were not of the papers, but of the painty balloons ! Then the universe said "why don't you just post some of the balloon photos instead, add a few photos of the papers at the end and leave out all the "partially through the process ones"?" Oh ! Yeah, I could do that, so I did. 😂
Isn't this just beautiful ! (Don't crush my illusion, say it is !)
Messy, colorful goodness.
I had two sizes of balloons, so I used them both.
They made sometimes interesting and sometimes just globby designs. That's what practice and experimenting is for. How else will you know what they can do?
I had an old plastic plate that I used to pour the paint on so I could dip the balloons in it before squashing it on the papers.
(Stop thinking that. It does NOT remind you of a boob.)
I had started out using a paper plate, but it wanted to bow when the damp paint was put on it, causing the piles of paint to run away. I had switched over to the plastic plate I showed above part way through to remedy that. I thought the photo of the painty paper plate was fun too though. It kind of looks like hands to me. Now that makes me want to make painty papers with my hands ! You know that will be coming soon. I can just feel it now.
Finally, a few photos of some of the papers.
I think they will make a nice addition to my painty paper box. Later they can be torn or cut as needed and additional details can be be added with more paints or pens.... or whatever if desired.
I didn't love the balloon results on half of this paper that I had used previously for a little blotting, so scraped across the wet paint that was there and practiced a few stencil designs and colors. Some good... some eh.....but ALL fun.
This is a bonus photo that includes the balloon blotting tissue I used during this play session. I had already used it for some previous blotting, but it got some really colorful additions this time.
....and last for now, a photo of the three papers I worked on the most, after they were mostly dry.
So while the world was doing more serious things ... or sleeping, I played in paint like happy child.
Soon the chicken casserole will come out to cool down a bit for travel. I will grab a shower, curl the ends of my hair with my curling iron, get dressed and pack up for the trip to visit Mom.... over the river and through the woods.... of a sort.
Hope you are all doing well and remember.... I love you !
