I was thinking of a way to say "same old stuff" in a different way and thought SOS... ha ha, which we know means something else entirely.... or maybe not, it IS possible I need help. LOL !!!
Sharing a recent page from my practice/play journal. For some reason, it really appeals to me. What ? Yeah, sometimes even my own art doesn't appeal to me, so I get it.
As always, sometimes the art has a little bit of a different vibe from a little further back, but I didn't take a photo of that and now my time is running out. I need to get myself presentable because, just like most times, I am heading out shortly for a visit with Mom. So click this photo up on your computer screen and run halfway across the room and look at it again. That should do it !
Like the last couple of Saturdays, yesterday I took some stuff to donate to my local Goodwill and after I dropped my stuff off at the drive through drop off, I drove around to the front and went in and bought more stuff. 🤣 Mostly, I don't buy unless it is something I think I can use in my art somehow, with a few exceptions, like that bodacious piece of stained glass I showed you before. Wow... now THAT was really a treasure.
Between a few things I found there, some things I ordered that landed in the mail and a few more things I found at Dollar Tree, I tested some of the stuff out last night. I have a very small gel plate press that is only about a 3x3 inch size and sometimes I use that for testing instead of pulling out the bigger presses and using lots of papers for tests. The next two photos are just some random little pieces that came out of that.
I will being adding these fun bits to my collage paper stash and will use parts of them in some future pieces. Pulling off the gel press means you never quite know what you are going to end up with, but that is part of the fun of using it and once started, it is hard to stop.
What's fun also is how some of the "roll off" papers that are randomly created when after rolling paint onto the gel plate, I run the roller over side papers to clean it off so the paint that is on it doesn't mix with the next color and make all my papers gray and brown. LOL
The next few photos are of parts of those roll-off papers. I will also add these to my paper stash to use in the future.
Fun....
Collage papers.... that practically make themselves from nothing.
Bright and beautiful. The designs you see in some of them is because I will put a stencil under the roll-off paper so the different paints won't be solid over the previous paints. It really helps give them personality.
What a fun color combo... right?
I could fall deep into this.
Sometimes when I use the stencils direct and paint gets on them, they end up nearly being a piece of art themselves. I'm sometimes tempted to mount them and buy another to use. I haven't done it yet, but it could happen.
Ok! That's all for me for now. I hope you enjoyed all the wonderful colors and that your weekend has been a great one.
