Last night I stayed up till about 3 AM playing in my paints. That sounds like I toiled and toiled, but no, really I didn't get the notion to pick them up till about 1 AM. Somehow, art hits me late. I think about it throughout the day, but my hand rarely goes too it till late evening at the earliest.
By the time I was sleepily getting ready for bed, my mind turned to what time I should set my alarm to get up today as I wanted to go to my Mom's for a while, which I usually do on.... Sunday. I wanted to try to go by noon, so I could get back before dark and avoid all the "deer dodging" that dusk and early evening sometimes creates.... but still have several hours to distance visit and help her with anything she needs me to do.
So this morning, still in that mindset, here is my thought process in snippets.....
~ I got up knowing that I needed a shower and to wash my hair, can't go to Mom's all frumpy.
~ Stopped at my computer to do the quick once over to see if there was any additional info I might want to know since I was on last night.
~ Got things ready for shower, while thinking that my Michael's delivery order might come while I was at Mom's
~ What if someone steals it before I get back... oh well
~ While bathing and washing my hair....I think about....
~ Getting some coffee I put on before I started my shower and what would I do the hour and a half or so before I go to Mom's.
~Thinking about work tomorrow and how it will be a stressful incoming phone call day as it always is around this time of month and wondering how it got to be here so fast.
~Thinking about trying not to think about that and enjoying the day.
~The project I planned on completing this weekend crosses my mind.... of the domino moving of things to make space for a new small freezer that is coming later this week.
~ Which caused me to wonder why I had not accomplished it.... what ? what did I do all yesterday ?? Why had I not worked on it ?????
~ Then my brain stopped.....wait... wait.... yesterday.. wondering about yesterday.... I am trying to imagine how I spent my whole Saturday and got nothing done.... but....
~I've got soapy hair and I'm continuing to scrub through my hair. (scrub? What is it when you wash around in your hair ?? LOL !!!)
~I'm thinking backwards about painting and ... .groceries that were delivered...... and... and... oh ! Yesterday wasn't Saturday....it wasn't Saturday at all !!... it was Friday and I WORKED all day ! OMGoodness..... It's not Sunday !
~All of the sudden I am filled with joy ! It is Saturday and I have the WHOLE day to get more done and work on my "moving things" project and paint some more ! Oh my ! I've just gained a whole day ! How wonderful, no place I need to go and hours and hours just for me !
~ What a happy realization... and here I am, making my crazy brain a post ! That's right, I need the world to know I am getting Cra-Cra 😄
While I am here I thought I'd share what I worked on last night. It is not at all completed, but I will share a photo again later when it is done.
I had a canvas that I had previously began an abstract thing or two on, but it never took a good direction, so it was left till later, when hopefully some other thought or idea called it back on the table. You can see it as the wild background of the beginning of the Snowman. I painted in a basic shape for it in the midst of the abstract chaos.
Oh... and my photo disclaimer, I didn't take these photos with thought of sharing, just a thing I do for process, because I like to look back sometimes at what I did ... especially if all of the sudden it goes sideways and I'm trying to figure out why. So these are just quick shots, sometimes crooked and.... well.... there it is.
Then I added some initial facial features and the beginning base for hat and scarf. I expect to soften up the mouth circles and maybe get more of a smile out of it.... but later.
A little more color and beginnings of shading.
I have to say I had no direction on this when I began, just that it would be a snow person.....but in the process, It seemed my subject related colors were more pastel'ish than the dominate primary colored background, so I lightly white-washed over the background to mute it... ahh.... much better compatibility.
Now muting out some of the pink and yellow shading.... and this is where it is at in better lighting this morning. Obviously not finished but well on it's way.
I'll be working on it more today or tonight. What fun... right?
The good thing after all, is that I really do have a delivery coming from Michael's today. More paints, canvases and paint tool toys ! Yippee !
It's going to be a good extra day... ha ha
