You know I love colorful art, I love buying it and painting it....or at least TRYING to paint it 😂
In the last couple of months I have bought a few smaller pieces. I haven't generally bought many smaller paintings for several reasons. The main reason for me is that if they are too small, once you step a certain distance away, you can no longer enjoy the wonderful details, so they have to be somewhere that you would be close to them when you see them, like hanging on a wall beside where you sit or on an easel on a very close table or shelf. It's not that I can't do those things, but there is limited space for things to be close to me where I spend most of my time.
Maybe that's just a quirk of mine, I'm not really sure.
This first one is my most recent purchase. I just received it this week. I found it on DPW (Daily Paint Works) where some artists show and sell their work. There are all kinds of art there at many levels of talent and style
This one is by an artist named Jan Small. It is an 8X8 canvas panel. You can guess easily that I was attracted by the boldly colored dress and the colorful chair and background. I also liked that she appears to be napping. I do so love a good nap, not the kind where you go get in bed for a while, but the kind that comes from drifting off while lounging in your comfy chair. She called it "Dreaming In Color". I thought she needed to come spend her napping life here with me.
The second most recent purchase was this wonderfully colorful abstract. I totally love the main colors teals, aquas, purples and how they fit together. I liked the double handled cup?....and of course enough dashes of yellow to add a bright happy factor to it.
It is by an artist named Ruthie Bitton and I also found this one on the DPW site. It is on an 8x10 wrapped canvas. Knowing how much I love bold colors, you can see why this one grabbed my attention. Happy ! Happy !
This last one for today is by an artist named Rebecca M. Beal. It is a 7X7 canvas panel. This is not my first from Rebecca. I believe I have shown a piece or two of her art here before. I have 3 other pieces of her art, two cottages with snow and another cottage in evening light. The others are larger though, 16x20, so this is the first I have purchased by her that is small. I'm really not sure she paints many smaller ones, but she sent out an email with a discount code and this little painting was included in her email with some others. The email came on a winter day that was trying to take me down, so when I saw this white porch rocker with it's bright yellow pillow, surrounded by flowers, I was caught up in the thought and decided I needed it here to put on my work desk, to remind me that spring things are just around the corner.
For now they are on easels, 2 easels and a phone holder that is, which I have found does nicely for the small paintings on panel. They are sitting on my star table in the living room. I am enjoying them clustered together and sometimes after the weekend, I move them to the corner of my work desk, so they can keep me company and make my work day go better.
I really have more art than I have space for and that is a dilemma for me, because I want more. I am going to have to work on either a better way to display more or ..... I dunno ! I'm still working on that one.
It's Saturday ! The morning has been sunny, but in the last few minutes it has been clouding up and I am thinking there is some rain coming. Last night my Lexa said not till 6 this evening, but now she is saying rain is expected in about 15 minutes. That doesn't bode well for all the things that I should be doing next, since I'm solar powered !!!
Maybe I need to go in there and paint me a giant sun first ! Oh yeah... that sounds like a great way to put off the chores a while longer.
😂
😇 Would I ??????
I hope you have a wonderful day or evening, however you decide to sepnd it.
