I was feeling anxious... and I thought that should be the name of this little art (loosely spoken) card. Earlier in the evening on Wednesday I had attempted to take a 45 minute power nap and woke up 2 hours later. Boy was I ever annoyed with myself! I still had an hour an a half before my regular weekday bedtime, so of course I stayed up an hour and a half past that to make up for the nap. LOL !!! In order to try to get past my annoyance, I grabbed one of the jumbo playing cards I had prepped and just started randomly gluing on stray scraps off of my art table. I wasn't trying to make something good, I was just "making" to try to get my brain into a happy place. When I was nearly as done as I was going to be, I grinned at myself and thought, this looks exactly how I was feeling, anxious! I then told myself that was it's name, even though I rarely name my art and I wondered if it would make anyone who saw it feel anxious too. Does it ??? 🤣
So, I said in the last post I had gone art thing treasure hunting in the Good Will a couple days ago and I showed you some stuff I got to use for later. I went out again yesterday afternoon to look a few more junky places. I found a little stuff, which I always consider good, just enough to make me think I got something, but not so much I need to add a new room onto the house. 😂
This thing however, came from amazon a couple days ago. It is a corner punch and neatens up the corners of your paper by snipping a little bit off in a more rounded shape, just to make it look a little better.
It has three ports, where you can slide the corner of a paper into and each one takes off a different amount.
Of course I had to test it out the night that I got it, so I pulled out these two tiny collages I had made previously see what it would do. You see how the corners are square in this photo..... the before....
...and here is the after. It really does make them look neater. I tried the different sizes on random papers and I do like how it works. Not all corners need to be rounded it is true, but if they need to be.... now I can make it happen.
This was a tiny treasure find I got for 50 cents from the Hospice store. As you can see, it is a paper punch in the shape of an egg. It is small, only about 1/2 inch long, but I like it too. Something a little different from just round shapes. Nothing wrong with round for sure, but once in a while you just need a little something different. If you made cards or the such, they could be Easter Eggs, but I think they might make funky looking flower petals too. We'll see where they fit into later.
For a dollar, I also found this small set of number stamps also from the Hospice store.
I had my small gelli print plate out, so I did a test. I think it will fit in nicely somewhere later too.
Art toys are fun. Going back to Tuesday again, I found these trivets. I had seen another woman use a trivet that had neat shapes on it for a printing pattern, so when I saw the one with squares, that is what it reminded me of. It was bound together with the fish one. I wasn't impressed with that one, but it could make some neat printed shapes as well. Sometimes things will surprise you.
Now I've seen plenty of hot pot trivets similar to the fishy one, but this one that has squares was a little unusual. It appears to be made of paper that has been folded into strips and then wound around into a square and then the squares bound together with some sort of strong cord. I didn't notice that part of it in the store, just that it had neat squares that might print onto paper nicely. I was fascinated a little when I realized it was probably hand made.
Once again, I tested it on my tiny gelli plate to see if it worked like I thought it might.... and it did.
The "after test" shot. Cool.... right ?
....and one last parting photo. Whenever I roll paint on the gelli plate, I need to then roll the excess paint off, so of course there is always some extra paper near by. Sometimes the "roll off" makes pretty neat paint mixes that I can also use as collage paper. To help that along, many times I will put a random stencil under my roll-off paper so it will help make something pretty. I love the blue and green together and with the stencil design showing through some of it, I liked how parts of it turned out.
Ok! Show & Tell is over for the moment. I signed off my work station at 5, took a couple of photos and came back to make this post. I was almost done when my Walmart grocery order showed up, so I had to stop and put the refrigerated stuff away, It wasn't a huge order this time though, so I came back to finish this off and now I will go straighten up the kitchen and get the rest put away.... or maybe I will eat something first. 😀
