It certainly is over here. It's the beginning of the weekend, I don't have to work any overtime tomorrow (doing the happy dance !), it's payday AND my latest art buy arrived.
I knew it was supposed to arrive today. I kept trying to WILL it to come early... ha ha.... It finally arrived about half past noon, which was good because I was on the first of my lunch hour and had time to unpackage it immediately. It was quite big and I thought she must have really padded it, but for real, the art is this big. It's a 24 X 30 and I knew what size it was when I bought it, but it somehow looked bigger when it got here. It's always a nice surprise when things are bigger than you guessed... right???
The artist's name is Mickey Cunningham and she had printed her own shipping label. Half of her label was this art. What fun !
Once again, I found her art on Etsy.
So I quickly tore the painting out of the box very carefully. 😆 She had it packaged so protectively. Lots if padding in front of the painting's surface and it was wrapped in plastic too as you can see here.
On the bottom corner was a little packet of cards.
There was a business card of course and on the back of the one on the upper right with the painting of a girl on it, was a nice Thank You note from Mickey. On the upper left was a nice blank greeting card that I could use for whatever purpose I liked. That was a sweet little bonus.
I know the art I choose to buy for myself is not everyone's cup-o-tea, but I quite liked the combination of abstract(always my fav), with hints of grafitti .... and figurative mixed.
The one thing that influenced my final decision to buy was.... yellow high heels! Funny what parts of a piece of art will speak to you and seal your mental deal.
Now here is a black and white so lots of the brush strokes show. Not that you couldn't tell there were many in the color version too, but still, it's always fun to look at paintings in B & W.
I temporarily hung her in my work space at lunch time so I could admire her through the afternoon while I worked, but after work, I have (at least temporarily) hung her out in the main living area on a focal wall so I can enjoy her while I decide where she might fit best around here.
Do you do that? Buy something and then see where it goes or do you always go looking for something to fit a specific space?
It seems I buy what I like and then figure it out once it gets here. 😄
I haven't had time to "tablescape" the table below it to enhance the experience yet, but maybe later tonight. I just re-arranged some tables last weekend and everything isn't settled yet.
I hope your day (whatever day it is wherever you are) is a happy one.
Love you ! Mean it !
