It's Saturday! That's good, right? I'm having to work on the "good" part of it at this moment. For some reason I don't seem to have good energy this morning. I'm hoping that will change in a bit, but since I don't know why I don't have energy, it is hard for me to figure out what to do about it. Add on top of that, I got my grocery order delivered this morning and it has an item that expired yesterday and one that today is the last day, that I cannot possibly use up before tomorrow. Ugh! Now I know that is not a life devastating problem, I mostly have my priorities in order about such things, but it is still very ANNOYING !!
I started having my groceries (and other items sometimes) delivered during the covid times and found I liked it... mostly. In the past though, if their shoppers had made a boo-boo and put some items in expired, there was a simply way to ask for a refund and so when I would do that, they would instantly credit me back. No hassle. The only time they ever asked me to send something back was when it was a roast, where they sent me a "flavored" one instead of the plain traditional one I ordered when I indicated no substitutes. It was over $10 and I wasn't surprised as most things that were ever wrong were much cheaper. I didn't take it back and I cooked it, took two bites of it and threw it out. It was awful! Anyway, the last 3 orders they sent me an item that had the date of delivery as the expiration date and when I put in for a refund, they are all exciting and send me stuff telling me how easy the return process is, but to get it, I need to take it back. They even give me about a month to do it. I daydreamed about leaving the items out to rot (in a zip lock of course) and take them back on the last day, hand it over, show the return barcode and let them have to handle it. LOL....
Yes, I know the solution, do my own shopping.
...but....shoppers for delivery orders should never add expired items to an order.
Ok ! I'm getting past that too in a few minutes and make the rest of the day great. I swears!
One of the projects I am starting to work on in my house is sorting and going through all the art I have sitting around, about 15 years worth. The majority I created, a few pieces I have bought. Some of the older pieces I kept because at the time I made them, I was trying some new thing and they had fond memories attached. It wasn't that I thought they were all so good, some are really not, but they are kind of like a physical diary and I still had a strange tiny heart string attached. I believe it has been long enough though, that I can be more sensible about it (heh).... so yesterday I sat up a big table and started dragging everything out so I can actually see what all is there. A few smaller pieces I had totally forgotten about. These also include canvases where some paintings never got finished. Too many really.
Anyway.... while pulling out, I came across a couple of boards I had only worked on last year and they were yucky, but I had kept them. One was a piece that I did a post featuring last July named something like "I don't like you".....which really was referring to some collage papers I had made along the way that I didn't like, so I challenged myself to make a piece of art using them, just for the fun of it.
Last night I decided to try to turn it into something I actually liked better. I'm not sure about the "like" part, but it at least is way more interesting.... or I think it is.
This was it when I made the original post. SMUGGLY !
So I first painted over it with my new transparent yellow paint, which didn't improve it, but made it brighter. Then I collaged torn up dress pattern paper all over it. After that, I smeared around a little of my other new rusty red transparent paint. THEN, I put a black arch in it to make some sort of door and the rest, shadings and stormy blue where sky might be, happened after.
After, I really liked how the marks from the pattern paper randomly fit in, almost making it appear abstractly, that there was some sort of fencing to either side of the door that had become a gate'ish thingy. Depending on how close or far I see it, there seems to be a building in the distance behind the arch.... and a man walking towards the right or the black of a shadowy figure on the left. I'm not sure how they got there, but I believe that may be a portal to somewhere else.
😂
Anyway, I thought it was at least an improvement, in interest of subject, if nothing else.
I guess it's time to see what I am going to do next. I need a dose of energetic pizzaz! I wonder where I can buy some of that.
