I just made 3 paintings! And retouched one artwork!
Here they are:
THE OWL AND CAT
All the paintings I made are watercolor!
I used Kuretake gansai tambi and simbalion watercolor palettes.
THE FOX
It is an old artwork but I enhanced a bit using prisma color colored pencils.
That is also why, for my art contest I thought of birds for the theme. Here's my own participation! π
LET'S LOOK AT THE PROCESS!
πΈπΈπΈ
Sketching geometrically rather than employing the use of curved lines.
This helps more with precise angles and shapes.
πΈπΈπΈ
With a wide and slanted brush, I paint base color. They're colorful. That's the style I pick.
πΈπΈπΈ
I darken the owls body and then layer the eyes till it's dark with many shining lighter colors.
πΈπΈπΈ
Here's how you make the stars, just bright yellow spots all around and you darken background.
πΈπΈπΈ
You just use light blues for the base.
πΈπΈπΈ
I add details darkening some patterns, this helped emphasize the eyes too.
πΈπΈπΈ
For darkening the background I used dark violet, dark blue and a dark red violet.
Observe the right side, the colors are just darker and smoother, no technique in particular, just add the pigment with water and spread it with light round brush strokes. Totally random, only, the nearer the owl should be darker by a bit.
Just watch the water spread and mix colors, it's just awesome.
πΈπΈπΈ
The colors are lighter and different hues of blue and purple make it more beautiful. Although I did darken mine so the focus would be on the owl and the stars shining.
πΈπΈπΈ
The small patterns I start off by red dashes, covering it with dark blue and brown dashes and lastly with white. The edges of the painting I did darken as well.
πΈπΈπΈ
Then it is finished! ποΈ I even made a poem for it!
I took an apple cut and plate,
Left it on the table laid.
I took a trip upstairs and down
Looked at the table, and around.
I checked my pockets and the floor,
I even looked outside the door.
Crumpled brows, I touch my chin,
Thinking where could it have been?
I hear it! Yes! A little sound
Quietly I turned around.
Near the window I take a peek,
To hear where I last heard SQUEAK!
Outside my head, my eyes a squint,
Nowhere seen, not one hint.
Odd, I felt eyes watching me
And when I turned surprisingly,
It turned its head, a gentle look
Flapped its wings like page of book.
It flew away into the dark.
Since then, I knew I'd be apart.
Goodbye my pet mouse.
The end.

A little video! β¨
Okay!!!!
So whats up? Time to talk,
As you can observe, I used the starry method again and this time, I did a lot more details because of the odd shaped tree, the background.
This is actually a dawn scene, the trees on the bottom left corner have sunlight. And the owlies are in bed early inside their tree hole.

Kona the cat
This is a commission art, my friend Randy's cat.
Upclose it is a bit impressionistic as the watercolor strokes are not in detail.
Here's how I made it!
PROCESS:
When sketching, you can edit your reference's brightness to see its shape more if it's saved in your phone.
π
Base Color is yellow, also, it is the dominant hue of the whole picture so you can't go wrong.
π
Then we add opposite hues, and by that, I mean cool colors to represent shadows.
π
Add some more brown, and some light blue highlights.
π
The face and body have very dark browns. I add that too!
π
Browns and browns, the flat brush actually creates a fur effect cause the tips get scattered.
π
Hues of yellow, brown, and green.
π
It me
π
It's done!
π
Let's see!
I honestly find it so tiring to di background but it's one flaw I need to overcome.
So, from now on, backgrounds are compulsory for me.
Not wanting to improve is a serious issue
I can see how my art is very close to the original but not totally. Hopefully I can improve!

YAY!
What about the fox?
I added some orange, red, brown and strengthened the black outlines.
It is more or less better, I hope.
When done:
I hope it looks more red or orange at least.
FINISHED!
I HOPE you liked my nocturnal animal surprise!
I have to paint more owls and foxes and whatever else I can!
I will also paint my sister in oil paint soon! Excited to get all my projects done!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY!
THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE EASY MINI #4 CONTEST WINNERS WILL BE TOMORROW!
