Theme for 's #artstyleart10 is Realism + Village Life. A wonderful challenge, interesting theme and heartful competition. I have seen so many great pictures in the previous challenges so I thought I'd try to put some effort into my entry.
The theme was Realism and Village life, and yes at the first glance this one looks more like Realism and Wilderness. At first when I saw the theme I was drawn towards warm colors and old villagers sitting or working. But it wasn't really true for me to paint at the moment. I was raised in the very north of Sweden where you don't farm so much. Ice fishing! That is on the other hand something almost everyone does. And the wilderness is a part of every village, it actually looks like this when you look out of thousands of hoses - lakes and wood. And the cold, I used to bike for school in minus 30 sometimes. The cold is part of every Swedes life, and many, many Swedes want to move to warmer countries. I don't and this is my entry :)
Hope you can enjoy!
And for you who don't know ice fishing - you drill a whole in the ice and do regular fishing. Usually fishing with something glancing to attract the fish down in the cold dark.

Process
Mask and paint wet on wet. Payne's grey, Prussian Blue and Alizarin Red. The colors choosen to reflect cold.
Some more masking.
Masking some tree trunks and painting the snow.
Painting the trees - Payne's grey. I figured out that it works well to the paint trees with a really ragged pencil.
Removing the masking fluid from the trees and paint them.
Adding some detail to the ice.
Sketching guidelines in the man, then adding color.
And some shadow. Finally painting the face.
And final result again! I forgot to tag it with but you can read my name at the bottom.
