"Foretold is this day, below the fallen city of Pthuevaria, astral bodies aline, and a bargain is struck."
Greetings!
Today I wanted to share with all of your lovely minds, the conceptual process of designing this inter-dimensional demon.
I made this concept right after leaving art school, feeling the pressure of the world bearing down on my back, I sat down in front of my sketchbook, and tapped into the demonic frequency of this astral being.
I don't believe that, but its fun to think about :)
I attended a classical art school, so 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, drawing only in pencil for a year. It was intense. But that intensity helped forge a diamond of creativity.
Heres the initial sketch, I initially drew this alongside several other designs at the time. My friend and I, were starting to design a game together. A game revolving around cosmic demons, the fall of civilization, and the psychedelic experience.
So in turn, I wanted each design to compliment this world I was building. Lovecraft, being a huge inspiration of mine, I was sure to fill it with as much cosmic horror as I could.
After developing those sketches, I took to photoshop, where I began painting directly over the original sketch, reworking some parts I wasn't happy with, and overall bringing life to this dark god. I worked directly with color, and trusted in my artistic instincts to carry me to the edge of hell.
Overall I was really happy with how it turned out. I imagined this demon encountering the player, or character in the story, and presenting him with a dark bargain. The ruins of the city Pthuevaria, aglow in the background, as the planets aligned, setting the stage for the reveal of this demon.
