I often admire the character designs done by many artists here on Steemit. I am determined to come up with an interesting character but I also remembered this little character I designed on 3DS Max, called OTIS.
Otis came about in a brazen experiment that a friend thought up. His idea was to "sell" shares on the internet! His argument was that nobody really "owns" the internet so, therefore, he can go ahead!
Needless to say, it went nowhere!
But I gained knowledge from this. I spent a many hours learning and understanding 3DS Max in order to create what I saw in my head.
3D software still fascinates me. The result can be so natural and almost "tangible", yet at all consists of mathematics.
The basic structure looks like the screen capture below. There are literally thousands of available commands at an artist's disposal to create, structure and pose.
This was the result:

Then textures are added to the wireframes and "rendered" and the result is always enjoyable to see:

I decided to move the word OTIS on to the cap instead of his tummy in this rendering:

There are many 3D programs out there. The most popular are Maya, Cinema 4D and 3DS Max. There is even an open-source software called "Blender" out there. I'm sure there are plenty more!
I hope you like Otis!!
