RED HOOD
Hello Steemians and to all the artists in this community! this is my entry to the contest
The Club of Antiheroes Contest
Hosted byI have chosen Red Hood for this work because it is a shocking character for me, for what it represents and mainly because I am a lover of comics and especially of Batman.
Who is Red Hood?
I will make a small review of this character:
His name is Jason Todd, he was Batman's second partner "Robin" who was killed by the Joker in 2005. He takes the Red Hood costume with vengeful desires against Joker and Batman, in addition to seeking to cleanse the city violently, when born again, he learns that Bruce Wayne (Batman) never avenged him, was filled with rage and decided to take the identity of Red Hood, which years ago had used the Joker, reliving old ghosts in the mind of Bruce.
you can read a bit more about Red Hood on the internet, because if I tell you all your story you could do it all day long. xD
As I did?
I decided to do it as a pencil drawing of graphite, I would like to compete in the digital environment but things are better for me manually, however I do not underestimate digital work, on the contrary I would like to be able to do the genius that these great digital artists do.
Let's do it!
the first thing was to choose the image, it is the one that is at the beginning of the post and to make a pencil sketch very clearly, I do not want to dirty with dark pencils, normally for this I use a pencil HB.
Very well, done this, I want to start this time from the head, so I need to denote the features, I do it giving volume and shadows to the neck of the jacket, this so that the lines do not join me and make a complete nonsense with the helmet.
I realize the dark helmet and neck of the jacket, this has to be marked very well because very lightly stuffed the whole drawing to make a base color, and this usually causes many lines to be lost.
Now if I start to give life to the helmet, for all the work I will use a single pencil (6B). More price for the dark, less pressure for the lights. The pencil 6B is great because it has a soft mine, although it messes a lot you can give many tones, and more when it is a bit dark work.
The helmet is made, this was a bit complicated, give it the right texture so that it does not look so metallic, although it is, it has a matte color, which makes the helmet shine a bit opaque. Contradictory but they are effects of paintings.
Once the helmet is made, we give life to the jacket, its original color is like a Beige, so it will shade very lightly and in the darkest areas where the jacket is pressed more darre very dark shades, this highlights its volume highly.
Very good. Now to create the chest, this has the Batman logo that should be noted, it is dark and with some marks, it was more than the helmet but even so I take time. Here ends Jason Todd, but even the design is not completely ready. I have to create the card so I thought ... Red Hood uses guns and swords that could make him look like his personality? The bullets of pistols would break the card like the sword, it would be damaging all the work, so I preferred to make a few simple cuts and dirty the purpose of the drawing to give the effect that it is an old and damaged card ... Something a Uncommon but you can not deny that it has a very beautiful visual effect!
