Given the old skool iconic imagery of Andre, Obey, and other traditional Fairey images that are unmistakeable, I agree that he did give the images symbolism and meaning - 'To Not Obey - societal norms, the artistocrats, the man, to not confirm, and to live with a sense of 'expression'
Shepard Fairey's Obey Giant brand is not your typical ordinary sense of the word brand. Obey Giant has been evolving for over two decades now and has traversed it's original artwork from Graffiti to Stencil Prints, to HPM's original artwork in some of the most prestigous museums in the US and overseas, and Obey Giant has set new standards for artists and communities in terms of large scale murals in cities. Shepard Fairey's murals are extremely thought out in terms of design, geographic location, color, texture and societal impact.
