Just finished with a Chinese fantasy series.
This special human being, has healing power running through his veins but he is righteously reluctant to meddle with human life. Betrayed, now awaken from an induced slumber, he searches for the perpetrator.
The emphasis is on glamorized frivolousness and on not so positive aspect of human nature and society.
An unhealthy attachment to life fueled by greed, the treatment of the very breath and that of others as objects.
The fear of seeing a loved one dying it's as strong as the fear of eternal life on Earth.
Death it's seen as a process one can prepare too but ultimately, it's he who's left behind that suffers the most.
Right to the end, the special being takes no drastic measure towards the perpetrator, he just decides to leave it to nature to close its circle.
Although during the series the special being is referred to as "the monster", he truly is no match for the perpetrator, as for evil.
