Have you ever had one of those moments when you realise, "Oh no..."? I think I could say with certainty that we all have.
Facepalm, D'oh! are modern expressions, but the act of face palming of course has been around for a long time. However, the term facepalm only appeared in the last couple of decades. Internet memes have helped spread the term over many linguistic and cultural boundaries.
However the act of face palming is not unique to humans, apparently a group of mandrills at Colchester Zoo adopted a similar gesture to signal their desire to avoid social interaction or be left alone.
Thus I present my contribution to facepalm imagery. Does it deserve a facepalm itself? =)
