This Dec. 21st, I'll be sitting on a panel of male adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse as part of an event taking place in Chicago. It's being put on by GuruNischan in cooperation with Childhood Fractured. I'm not aware of any other event like this one. Get your tickets here.
Event Details
There will be two opening acts + GuruNischan making her debut as Lala Luminosity in her One-Woman Show Spoken Word Burlesque Spectacular called, 'Pussy Whisperer.' Here's more about that:
Born and raised into sexual and spiritual abuse, the atmosphere of her upbringing left a film of confusion, deceit and deception, disguised as consciousness and compassion.
Detangling her identity anchored in "The Yoga of Awareness", from the undercurrent of manipulation within her root systems; she brings us to the depths of darkness and back again in full erotic reclamation, as she melts the ice block of her terroirized existence, and learns to feel the pleasure and treasure of her own body.
After this, there will be a Male Abuse Survivors Panel + discussion of Childhood Fractured and other resources and support.

Thoughts
I've never sat on a panel like this before. But my participation makes sense. I'm an abuse survivor who has used art to process and heal from my experiences. Although I rarely talk about this part of my story in public, if there's a chance that it could help another survivor on their journey, I'm all for it.
Beyond this, I love the sex-positive take on healing the damage that comes from sexual abuse. Introducing burlesque into this conversation strikes me as a novel choice that could turn out to be very powerful. It may also draw an audience that hasn't ever even considered the impacts of childhood sexual abuse.
