Five weeks ago, I started an"interactive painting/story contest" - posting a painting of mine, along with a few sentences, free for anybody to fill in the blanks to make their own story - with the possibility to win some SBD (pretty high value at that time!) along the way. After five episodes, it's time for a recap of the story:
First, there was Mystery Man and completely ran away with the story:
It was the time before the legends. The Mystery Man had just arrived from the dimensional manifold. He felt nauseated and confused. Firmly holding his little suitcase, containing everything he thought he was missing before, he approached himself.
His job was done. Or was it?
No, it wasn't! This was only the beginning... again!
"And The There Were Two" (mixed contributions by and
):
Now that Mystery Man had met himself (again), they both found themselves lost in time.
"Do you see anything on your side?" Mystery Man 1 asked Mystery Man 2, "I'm seeing everything different but nothing changed at all."
Mystery Man 2 peered into the darkness and suddenly whispered: "Quiet. I see her, there she is: Mahakali, the goddess of time and death. I have to go and deliver the..."
But Mystery Man 1 couldn't hear him anymore, he was off on his own into his corridor. The last thing Mystery Man 2 saw was a vision of his 2 children. One a boy, one a girl, drawing something in what seemed to be snow. It wasn't a mathematical formula but it did look like it. It was something unlike anything he had ever seen.
Then all became black...
Things went onto "Niflheim" (entries by ,

):
Whether it took a few seconds or several aeons, he couldn't say - but Mystery Man 2 saw light in the blackness. He felt dizzy,
but as the landscape slowly lit up, he recognized Niflheim Nefeline: the land of talking cats
Had he died? No, because he still had things to accomplish. His briefcase, where was his briefcase? He must have lost it before the visions had overcome him. Maybe that was the point, maybe he really didn't need all these things.
It was time to look for Mystery Man 1
He quickly searched for his mortar and pestle, trying to recall his grandmother's herbal recipe to calm the vapors...If he was dead, his grandmother would surely be here to whisper the recipe in his ear...
Alas! Only a three-legged crow was nearby, cackling like it knew some punchline...
A mysterious green creature approached (entries by ,

Suffering from an accumulation of gas in the alimentary canal -or one could just say flatulent- Mystery Man 2 searched the vast realm of Nefeline for his doppleganger until his burps spurred him on no more.
Finally, hungry and exhausted, he began to chew on an old liquorice stick he found on the ground.
It was then and there he was approached by a green figure, who was remarkably ethereal in nature, and yet there was something deep and darkly intangible swirling around in its aura.
Mystery Man trembled, finally asking: "Are you the guardian of the lake? Have I done something to offend you?
It smiled and said: "No, Mystery Man, I am not the guardian of the lake although he does lurk here this night. I am, however, representing a delegation of beings who are prepared to offer you aid in looking for your doppelganger in return for a small favour ..."
Mystery Man 2 knew this chance would only happen once every thousand moons,
so he acted without a second thought...
(fade to narrator in Morgan Freeman voice)
And then The Beings arrived:
For this painting, I received three entries, by ,
