Hi friends, I enjoy creating small decorations, so today I would like to share with you my latest stone paintings and a creative process.
It is quite easy work. You just need stones in suitable shapes, better with smooth surface, acrylic paint, two kinds of brushes (thin round and bigger flat one) and water.
I started with finding some nice stones. Therefore I went for a walk along a river in my town. It was after heavy rains, so the water poured out also a huge amounts of shells.
It is better to wash the stones before painting. If you don´t want to buy some expensive paints, you can use just acrylic paint you aleady have at home. I buy just this kind of acrylic paint, because it is in a big tin and I need only five colors to get the others. For a beeter manipulation I moved some amount into a smaller plastic bottles.
I decided to use only three colors - blue, red and white. There is no need to use all colors. Nice results can be achieved also with only two colors and maybe one (white would be best in this case).
You also need some inspiration. If you use google and type "stone painting" you will be flooded with plenty of beautiful images. Floral or animal motifs, also geometrical and ornamental, you just have to choose. If you are not sure of your skills you can start with some easy abstract patterns.
You can start with painting the whole surface in one color, so it become brighter or darker, so the picture will be highlighted.
You can prepare more stones at once, so they will dry sooner. After that you can start to paint with the thin brush.
You can also fill the whole picture firstly and then paint outlines. Remember to always dry your brush after you clean it in a water. You don´t want to slop your painting.
White can be used as a contour and you can also add it into other colors to get another shades. You can have some problems at the beginning with thin lines. You should paint only with a tip of your brush and after every stroke gain a paint.
The stones are nice as a decoration inside the flowerpots...
... and also around them.
That is all :) I hope this post was interesting for you and maybe some of you will also try to paint your own stones.
Thanks for watching!
