Hi dear Steemians, maybe you have noticed my previous post about mandala. It was not finished work, but today I would like to present you the result.
I was working on this piece for 13 hours. It is painted with acrylic paint, contours and permanent liners. The size of a canvas is 70x70cm. I also used ruler and dividers.
As you could see from the previous part, I started with the centre. I used paper and stick it in the middle. The canvas has its own structure, which can be an obstacle when you want to draw straith thin lines and small details.

The mandala should be in blue, green and red mostly, with some golden details. When I finished the centre I had to draw all circles around and paint them with the basic color.

When all the circles were painted I could start with the details and ornaments. There are repeated motvies,so I could finish all circles with the same pattern at once.
The lotus flower ornament was the most difficult, because there were so many layers. I had to draw them first, then fill them blue, inside part with green, the dark background layer, golden parts, red at the edges and dots at the end.
After filling the circles they had to be bordered with contours. I used golden and silver. I also painted the writings and made some final touches.
The result
The idea
I started with mandalas when I was 13. At the beginning I enjoyed coloring them, but after some time I tried to draw my own mandala. I have painted dozens of them since then.
You can find many different mandala sytles. They are mostly inspired by some culture. There are african, tibetan, indian, and so on. The meaning is quite simple. Mandala is an image in a circle. There can be abstract patterns and also animals and different things. It is a play with symbols mostly.
My mandala took some parts from tibetan mandalas. The centre is called Sri Yantra, which is a mystical diagram made of nine interlocking triangles. It has more representations in religion, but it is mostly a symbol of hindu Tantra. The triangle pointing down represents female principle and the one pointing up male principle. Together its the union of this two aspects.
