I spent a fun day with the family walking around Grand Rapids, looking at public art installations as part of the annual artprize event. This is the tenth year for artprize, and it's something I look forward to every year. It's a fun day to get out, walk around a great city, and expose my kids to a bit of culture. Here are some of the favorite pieces I saw.
This was charcoal I think. Probably my favorite thing I saw today.
There were several bugs and animals made from scrap metal bits.
A couple of bronze statues that I thought were particularly good.
And some large metal sculptures.
This one was interesting. Both from a composition and a subject matter perspective.
Overall a great day to look at art and get some exercise.
