Levon Biss - Microsculpture
Microsculpture is a ground breaking project by the British photographer Levon Biss that presents insect specimens from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History like never before. Since this exhibition is in my hometown where i grew up it was very easy for me to visit this museum. The images were astonishing! These images reveal an unexpected and often breathtaking beauty and make visible the many intricate adaptations to the form of insects - what entomologists call their microsculpture.
The following images i shot during the exhibition in Basel - Switzerland. Check it out:
Orchid Cuckoo Bee
There was tons of other insects that he took close up. Too many to make a picture of all of them but if you want to see more i recommend visiting his website:
Wasp Mimic Hoverfly
If you visit his website you can zoom in ridiculously close and see every single hair of these insects. For sure worth a look.
Jewel Longhorn Beetle
Stalked-eyed Fly
I love to visit museums all over the world. I never did that before i met my girlfriend so i would like to thank Anna for introducing me in how nice art can be. Especially combined with nature. This is my second post of a "Museumtour". If you would like to see more i would be happy if you visit my other posts and follow me on steem!
