This time I will show you the process of painting an acrylic picture β inspired by second weekly contest.
And yes, it all starts with a sketch.
This sketch is made with a light grey watercolour pencil, so I can remove it with water. I roughly drew the background, the architecture, and the main figure. The next step was to mark some of the shadows and highlights (still with the watercolour pencil).
Now I start with the acrylic paint. I only need three colours: white, black and a little bit of cobalt blue. The blue is necessary to make a cold grey; mixing only black and white results in a brownish grey. Firstly, I painted the sky, followed by the hills. I already made a lighter area on the hills, where later houses will be filled in.
Step three is painting the architecture. To get two very straight lines I masked the lower end of the image and the dark part of the wall with tape. The other lines I painted by hand, because I think to many sharp lines make the picture sterile and dead.
After drying the paint with a blow dryer, I started on the main figure. I began with the legs and armsβ¦
And finished with the clothes. The last details are some colour highlights. For the hair, I used a light blue, for the shoulders a light pink and dark green for the skirt. All colours are muted with white and black.
Finishing Touches are painting the town in the background and drawing a thin white glaze over the mountains.
Once again thanks to !! I had so much fun π
