This is a sketch I've made in preparation for my new painting. I'm trying to find a different way to catch new portraits. I don't plan to paint realistic of hyperrealistic artworks... I mean, I really admire this kind of art and all artists who can capture reality using their own abilities! But is there really a need for this? Reality is everywhere around us. I rather want to catch something inside of us.
My drawings and paintings aren't just about portraiting the external, its about finding out what is inside, in the heart. Mainly my heart, of course. That's why it is so weird 🙂 Because I am weird ( :D ). I preffer ugly figures and faces before beautiful fairies or princesses. These nice topics can often only please your eyes, but what else... No more intricate feelings... and! This is the time for my portraits! You can try to see behind the scene, look past the facade and think about the expression. Think about the feelings and emotions. I usually use masks over the face. It's not because I'm not able to draw the real anatomical details, it's about leaving there some space for the hidden mysterious things that can make the imagination running and cause those strange feelings. Everyone sometimes wears a mask to hide feelings that he is affraid to show to the world. This is normal for every human, of course. My paintings just want to open these inner states to every attentive observer, let him think about them and be honest with himself in the moment of contemplation.
To be continued... :)
