Next door to the bookshop I work at is a gift shop that specialises in Tibetan Bhuddist items: mainly incense but also prayer flags, devotional objects and meditation cushions. The owner also sells jewellery, singing bowls and other items that she imports from Nepal. A while ago, she bought this spectacular hand-carved wooden shrine and had it shipped over and keeps it in the shop.

It was difficult to photograph properly because the shop is so cluttered but here are some pictures of some of the details. The bottom doors are carved with the eight auspicious symbols, a different one on each door. These creatures are on the top corners. I don't know what they symbolise.
