In the early morning hours I found some wonderful asshat posting a beautiful image.
Why does that make them an asshat?
Well, for one, they were claiming it was a photo of them and their girlfriend.
...it's not.
Not only is it not the poster and their girlfriend, it's not even a photograph. Nope, not even a filtered one.
For another, this painting is by Leonid Afremov called Melody of the Night. If you're not familiar with Leonid Afremov, you should really give his work a good look. It's beautiful. (Don't worry, I wasn't familiar with him, either.)
It turns out that a reproduction of Melody of the Night is on sale for hundreds less than what it usually goes for. If I had the funds necessary (without leaving ourselves vulnerable in case of an emergency) I would snatch it up in a heartbeat. Even though it's a picture of the night, it's bright and colorful and creative and just really amazing and surprisingly (for me, anyways) cheerful. Almost playful, even.
If anyone is interested in this painting, it's for sale on Leonid Afremov's website. You can also find much more of his work available there, in high quality images.
Just don't be that asshat and try to claim his work as your own or try to profit off his images. If I see it, I will flag it and report it to .
Want to share something you love that doesn't belong to you? There's nothing wrong with that! Just decline payment, and don't be an asshat.
