The syringe
In this post you can see the illustration 'Needle' that I created for a rather violent scene in Chapter Thirty Nine of 's thrilling novel Dwelling.
He stabbed at her arm with the syringe.
Blood splatter. He wasn't looking for no skin pop. He needed a vein. He had to keep stabbing till he was good and sure. His hand pushing down that pretty face.

Creating an illustration for Dwelling
The drawing was sketched out lightly on the paper in pencil, then washes of ink and water were applied to create a subtle build up of tones. Black acrylic ink was dropped and splattered onto the paper to create dark glossy areas. Then salt was applied over areas of water and ink on the syringe to create a mottled pattern.
The final stage was to use a dip pen and drawing ink to draw in the finer details and outlines.
'Needle'
She leaped off the bed past Rube.
Snatching the needle off the mattress he chased her into the kitchen, slamming her into the table. The devil's dance to the floor. Looking down into those soulful orbs.
