Super moon
Today, I have mainly been painting the moon. Not the actual moon, I'm not responsible for the super blue blood moon that some people will be able to see in the sky tonight. No, I have been busy adding the details to the moon in a section of one of the paintings I am currently working on.
Moon inspiration
The inspiration for the design of the surface of the moon in this painting came from drawings of the moon made by Johannes Hevelius and Galileo in the 1600's.
I exaggerated some of the swirls and patterns, and blended cobalt turquoise into the black and grey tones.
I'll be looking up at the sky tonight to see the glorious super moon. Will you?
