For Hindus the most sacred shiva ligam are those who are in nature, these are stones consecrated by the sadhus.
The shiva ligam represents the creative god, the first form of the universe, of this form appeared Shiva and Sati in one body.
During the puja (ritual), the lingam is sprinkled with milk, honey or clarified butter (the ghi, which is also used in cooking), and receives offerings of flowers, fruits and sweets. The active lingam must be kept moist, which is why those of the Ganga are the most sacred.
