Rock my boat!
The last day of April already! Time is really flying when you have fun!
Today I am showing a new rock that I covered with dots! I used a different kind of piant this time to see if that would work as well.
But first lets show the rock!
The project
For this project I used a large river stone in the color dark grey. Because I wanted it to be even more dark I painted the whole rock black with normal acrylic paint.
The dots I made with 3D pearl paint. You can buy these in different colors in sets of 4 at the store called the Action.
I also used dotting pens and the backside of a pencil to make the bigger dots.
Some damp kitchen towel to keep my tools clean!
The 3D pearl paint comes in 18ml small bottles and I have to say I like how thick it is and still oily enough to make dots! The only downside of this paint is that it takes at 24 hours to dry. If you use normal acrylic paint the rock will be dry within an hour. So this time I had to wait longer. But, I will use the paint again because I love how it dries up and shines!
Progress of the project
As always I will be showing the progress pictures of the project I made. Sadly, I have to say that the first 3 pictures where too bad of quality to post. I should have checked but I also make mistakes! I am only a snekky you see!
Right away I loved how bright the colors are against the black. Something like that always gives me a warm feeling inside and makes it even more fun for me to go on and finish the project!
I made this rock yesterday and that was a good day to do some dotting! The weather was really bad, just like today. Nothing but rain and cold wind. I always love to craft when the wind is howling around the house! Just gives that extra little special!
This was the point where it got tricky! The 3D pearl paint does NOT dry very fast ( Takes at least 24 hours) so turning the rock to be able to place the dots was a real challenge. I have to admit, my fingers messed up a few times. But, that was also good in a way because I could see how easy I could remove the paint with a damp piece of kitchen towel. So, there was no harm done.
As you can see on the picture some of the dots are still wet! But, I could no longer wait to take these pictures and share this post here on Steemit!
I hope you enjoy the end result just as I do!
Thank you for taking the time to read my post!
Best wishes
