¡Qué sortudo es el Capitán! Rodeado de lindas chicas mientras disfrutan de su rato libre en las cercanías de la base.
A Brando le causa extrañeza verlo tan relajado y compartiendo calmadamente, pero es que Pete no es un ogro todo el tiempo…sólo cuando el trabajo lo amerita.
Marissa Morgan es la encargada de las comunicaciones en el Gran Dragón del Espacio. Es una chica muy linda, inteligente, valiente y con grandes habilidades como piloto. Siempre da la impresión que le gusta Brando, pero también muestra interés por el Capitán. ¿Será que ahora que Ylia se unió a la tripulación se decidirá por uno de los dos?
Para continuar con la dinámica de parejas del grupo al que me uní, quise hacer una escena donde incluyera más personajes y su interacción con ellos.
Esta fue una ilustración que disfruté mucho realizar. Trabajar con las expresiones de los personajes y su lenguaje corporal es algo que me encanta al momento de hacer manga.
En primer plano, coloqué a Fan Li y a Brando, quienes están atentos a lo que ocurre al fondo y a la vez, sin decir palabras, se comunican con la mirada.
Mientras, Ylia, en actitud relajada, escucha atentamente lo que Pete le dice. Está cerca de él, pero, al ser su superior y no hay una amistad tan profunda con él, mantiene cierta distancia, por lo que su mano apoyada en la baranda no lo toca.
Pete, al estar fuera de su rol como Capitán del Gran Dragón del Espacio, tiene una actitud más informal, incluso su expresión está algo más relajada de lo que normalmente la tiene. En ese momento es simplemente un joven más disfrutando de un momento de tranquilidad con amigos.
En el caso de Marissa, ya que ella tiene más tiempo conociendo a Pete, se encuentra más próxima a él. Al ver que Ylia y él tienen más interacción, de alguna manera “marca su territorio” colocando su mano sobre el hombro de él. Esto se me ocurrió al ver la forma en que se trataban en el anime. De todos los personajes, Marissa era una de las pocas que tenía contacto físico con Pete así que quise mantener eso.
Esta vez usé brochas de portaminas para hacer el lineart. A pesar que le da un aspecto nítido a la línea, no me gustó mucho el resultado. Creo que seguiré usando lápices y plumillas. Me gusta más la textura que da el lápiz de diseño a la línea en este estilo de ilustración.

How lucky is the Captain! Surrounded by pretty girls while they enjoy their free time near the base.
Brando finds it strange to see him so relaxed and sharing calmly, but Pete isn't an ogre all the time... only when the job calls for it.
Marissa Morgan is in charge of communications on the Great Dragon of Space. She is a very pretty girl, intelligent, brave, and with great skills as a pilot. She always gives the impression that she likes Brando, but she also shows interest in the Captain. Now that Ylia has joined the crew, will she choose one of the two?
To continue with the couple dynamics of the group I joined, I wanted to create a scene that included more characters and their interactions with each other.
This was an illustration I really enjoyed creating. Working with the characters' expressions and body language is something I love when making manga.
In the foreground, I placed Fan Li and Brando, who are focused on what’s happening in the background and, without saying a word, communicate with their eyes.
Meanwhile, Ylia, in a relaxed attitude, listens attentively to what Pete is saying. She is close to him, but being his superior and not having such a deep friendship with him, she maintains some distance, so her hand resting on the railing doesn’t touch him.
Pete, being out of his role as Captain of the Great Dragon of Space, has a more informal attitude; even his expression is somewhat more relaxed than usual. At that moment, he is simply another young man enjoying a moment of peace with friends.
In Marissa's case, since she has known Pete for longer, she is closer to him. Seeing that Ylia and he have more interaction, in a way, she “marks her territory” by placing her hand on his shoulder. I came up with this after seeing how they interacted in the anime. Among all the characters, Marissa was one of the few who had physical contact with Pete, so I wanted to keep that.
This time I used mechanical pencil brushes to do the line art. Although it gives a sharp look to the line, I didn't like the result much. I think I will continue using pencils and nibs. I prefer the texture that the design pencil gives to the line in this style of illustration.
