Hey folks! Today was a bit of a bustle! I had several chores to finish (vacuuming, dishes, straightening...) and got to hang with the grandkid for a while so that my older daughter could go to grocery store, and then (when Frankie got back from the store) we watched a couple of episodes of The Doom Patrol. (Frank bought me the first season on Blu-ray last weekend, and I hadn’t seen any of it yet. It’s quite fun, and I’m a HUGE fan of the comics!)
My primary CREATIVE work for the day was the construction of a PACKAGE, which I am mailing to a friend. The CONTENTS of the package are secret, but one of them was a hand drawn mini-zine by me, which I think I’m going to turn into a “Mini-GIF-Zine,” in an attempt to create a new micro-genre. We’ll see how that goes.
Because I am a weirdo, I felt the need to decorate the package, and I had HELP:
…wait… the other thing… I had the OPPOSITE of help.
Still, I did manage to complete the package decoration.
After I hear that the intended recipient has RECEIVED the package, I’ll get to work converting the mini-zine into a digital work.
I’m also excited to let everyone know that I received the STAMPS that I ordered from the USPS a few days ago.
I’ve also received several postcards lately, but I haven’t made the time to scanned them yet! Some of them are destined for The Museum of Postcard Art! (Keep your eyes out for an update post very soon!!!)
I did get a notice that one of the cards I’d sent out recently landed in its new home. Here is that work:
[Raw Version – Sharpie, felt pen, and paint pen on reclaimed cardboard.]
[Digitally Tweaked Mix – Sharpie, felt pen, and paint pen on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments.]
To me, it’s funny. I enjoy making humorous stuff like this…
Speaking of making stuff, the baby and I did work on some art today (although she spent more time dancing to ‘80’s music videos and trying to eat every dangerous thing in the house than in coloring. We’re working on it!) Here’s what we came up with, called "Hopscotch":
[Raw Version – Crayon and felt pen on reclaimed cardboard.]
[Digitally Tweaked Mix – Crayon and felt pen on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments.]
Alright, that’s it for today. I worked on a few other things, but didn’t FINISH any of them, so we can talk about those later. Wash your hands, check in with your friends and loved ones (with your phone OR with postcards!!!), and make the time to CREATE something!!!
Later!
