Holla!
I've been feeling really inspired lately, lots has been happening.
So usually I would be cringing at people talking about Christmas this early but from a business point of view Christmas is actually quite soon so it's full power here in the Tusk & Claw workshop making as much stock as possible for markets and the (hopefully) Christmas spike, in sales.
Here are some of my most recent pieces, unfortunately, I've been forgetting to get progress shots so just finished pieces here.
Most are up for sale, drop a comment or hit me up through contact details at the bottom of this post.
I've got something new to show you all now too, I've started attending a local lapidary group once a week.
For those who don't know, lapidary is basically gem/stone cutting. polishing. faceting. The group is pretty easy going, turn up and do whatever you want on the machines and pick the brains of some really knowledgeable gem cutters and jewellers.
Since going i've been told theres barely anywhere in the UK that offers this sort of group so i'm feeling really lucky for my geographical positioning!
Here's a few pieces i've cut so far.
This piece of agate was the very first thing i cutr and polished, quite proud!
A good before/after picture of some low grade lapis lazuli rough i've had sitting around for years.
A piece of amber, lapis, and labradorite all cut and polished from rough.
Some amber i've faceted manually using wet and dry paper. im going to try polishing them up a bit at the next session.
I'm in im element at this group it's great fun and i've been able to recut broken cabochons and freshly cut rough gems i've collected in the past.
I've ordered the right tools to do carving so once those bits arrive I'll be creating fully custom pieces. watch this space!
