Hi!
I am extremely busy lately and haven´t got mush time to be online but just wanted to share this little bit of news with you. This painting finally reached it´s new home in London just this week!
This painting started as you can see in this first photo as a live art performance in a Market in San Juan, a village in Ibiza where each Sunday there is a nice gathering of people selling their local products and crafts, this was back in Spring 2014. Each week there is a live band playing and sometimes art performances. This was the first time I did it live. I was always too shy but in the end I had fun and felt I had expanded in my capacity with other people.
The painting was only done during 5 hours and looked pretty much like in the first photo.
I then worked on it a lot more once it was home and it ended up looking like the last photo.
The title of this painting came to me though a chess book my partner was reading at the time and he kept sharing interesting quotes by this writer, Jonathan Rowson, "Chess for Zebras". I am not a chess player but I ended up reading part of it and found it very interesting. Overall it deals with thinking out of the box.
At the same time I was also intrigued by what a good friend of mine was going through and gave it a great deal of thought, specially while painting.
I then saw this friend of mine´s issue in the painting. She was walking on the edge, towards progress, reaching away from her comfort zone.
The painting I was working on, the challenges my friend was going through and the book all merged into one.
""PROGRESS BEGINS AT THE EDGE OF ONES COMFORT ZONE"Acrylic on wood. 150x122cm.
("EL PROGRESO COMIENZA EN EL FILO DE SU ZONA DE COMODIDAD")
the book containing the information.
I hope to keep in contact though Steemit as much as possible but I will be travelling a lot till mid July, so I won´t be online on a regular basis.
best Wishes!
