Figured I'd share my flea market find from tody. I picked up a Fargo Fan by Fanimation. I had never seen these before but happened to see it on the ground by a seller. I liked the old school kinda art deco look to it. Guy wanted $40. I quickly looked it up on eBay and saw them going for quite a bit more so figured it was a good deal and he said it worked.
Got home, sure enough it worked. Dug into the history and background of these. Turns out they aren't that old, they were made in the 80s or 90s, however they are a remake of an old school design called the Savory Aviator fan from I think the 1920's.
Kind of a cool story, turns out this dude Tom Frampton worked for an antique dealer in high school out in California. Eventually that antique dealers business started the Casablanca fan company and eventually Tom went on to start Fanimation and started remaking old school fan designs.
Turns out they also have a old fan museum down in Indiana with over 500 old school vintage and historical fans. It's only about two and a half hours from Chicago, I may go check it out some day.
Kind of a cool find and a cool story. You can watch Tom's story below...
