I drew this like 7 years back when I was still very much into reading manga. Back then, everyone (including myself) who could draw a decent character will have dreamt of publishing a manga/comic/graphicnovel some time in the future. But like every ambitious mangaka-wannabe-kid, my stories and characters lacked originality so I guess I gave up along the way.
I even spent RM700 to buy a Wacom Bamboo tablet just to draw manga too! Here's a black and white sketch of a girl I drew when I was testing out my new tablet.
Pls don't ask me wtf she's doing k because I really just went with the flow. I basically just filled in the empty parts with whatever my logic thinks would fit (like that Starbucks cup in the back pocket of her puffy shorts, like wuttt). Tho it was a whatever sketch, I still satisfied with the outcome overall considering this was my first ever digital sketch.
After watching numerous tutorial videos on digital painting, I decided to try. OMG digital painting is HARD. It looks easy on videos (everything does) especially with that fast-forward timelapse effect, but it really takes years of practice and experience to be able to paint like a god that fast.
Anyhow, here's a novice's digital painting:
Not the best, but HEY IT WAS MY FIRST TIME.
And the last too, I guess. I was tired of watching my art "not work out", you know? So I gave up and became a writer in the advertising industry instead but GOD DO I ENVY my friends who are involved in Comic Fiestas and Game Design.
I really should get back into sketching for a hobby. Art is always therapeutic for anyone.
Cheers to all the dreamers who grew up.
